Philadelphia grants. Found and managed.
City agencies, the Cultural Fund and some of the region’s largest foundations: a working map of grant funding for Philadelphia nonprofits.
Grants for Philadelphia nonprofits.
Philadelphia has been a consolidated city and county since 1854, so one local government handles everything from housing dollars to arts funding. The City supports arts and culture through the Philadelphia Cultural Fund, and its Division of Housing and Community Development, part of the Department of Planning and Development, contracts with nonprofits for housing counseling, Neighborhood Advisory Committees and affordable housing.
Some of the region’s largest grantmakers are based here as well. The William Penn Foundation awards most of its funding through published requests for proposals across five programs, and the Philadelphia Foundation, founded in 1918, runs competitive and special initiative grants for organizations serving Greater Philadelphia. The Department of Commerce adds grants for neighborhood commercial corridors and nonprofit capital projects through its Neighborhood Funding Stream.
Because these funders run on different calendars and formats, Pursuit puts City RFPs, foundation deadlines and state and federal opportunities in one pipeline.

Philadelphia grant questions.
Does the City of Philadelphia give grants to nonprofits?
Yes, through several channels. The Philadelphia Cultural Fund distributes City arts funding, the Division of Housing and Community Development contracts with nonprofits through RFPs, and the Department of Commerce’s Neighborhood Funding Stream offers grants for commercial corridors and nonprofit capital needs.
How do we apply to the William Penn Foundation?
Most William Penn Foundation funding is awarded through requests for proposals tied to a specific objective in one of its five programs. You create an account in its grants portal and apply to an open RFP; it does not accept applications by email.
Can organizations outside the city apply to Philadelphia-based funders?
Often, yes. The Philadelphia Foundation serves Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties plus Burlington and Camden in New Jersey, while the Philadelphia Cultural Fund funds only Philadelphia-based arts and culture groups.
Can Pursuit manage applications to several Philadelphia funders at once?
Yes. Pursuit runs every application in one pipeline with deadlines, team tasks and reviews, so a foundation RFP and a City funding opportunity can move forward side by side.
